Reading up on everything that qualifies as a good diet for your dog can be overwhelming to any dog owner. To break it down simply, your dog requires six basic nutrients to be healthy. Vitamins, minerals, lots of water, fats, carbohydrates and proteins are the six necessary nutrients.
The trick is, learning what portions of each nutrient is needed for your SPECIFIC dog and its breed. That is all there is to it. If you learn what percentage of each nutrient your dog needs and you are able to balance out its diet to conform to these percentages, you have your dog’s diet issue “licked”. Did you ever think that your cat’s tiny teeth could do so much damage to an animal that it attacks and eats? Your cat may not have the need to hunt and eat its prey because you feed it enough food to ward off those hunter instincts. However, your cat still has the ability to take down a sizeable prey if it had to by sinking its canine teeth into the spinal cord of its prey and severing it, or biting deep into the neck of the prey.
Your cat’s premolars are just as deadly, with the ability to shear through the skin, meat, and bones of its prey for eating. Next time your cat bites you (which it should never be permitted to do), think about how much worse that bite would have been if your hand was a juicy mouse. If your dog suffers an injury, your response and worry over it does not go unchecked with your dog.
You may not acknowledge the fact that your dog can feel appreciation, but at times when it is sick or develops an uncomfortable skin issue or it has an accident that causes an injury, your dog IS taking note of how much you fuss over it and help it to heal.
Your efforts with your dog are highly important for this exact reason, your dog gauges its relationship with you (with you being the alpha or leader) and the depth of the bond that you share does increase when your dog gets the comfort and care from you when it is not well.
So, if you were ever wondering if your dog even understands all that you do for it on a daily basis, you can be rest assured that not only does it acknowledge your efforts, it does appreciate you very much.

Like most species of pet birds, Lovebirds thrive well with variety in their diet. The usual practice of offering a pure seed diet to birds has been shown to result in nutritional deficiencies and serious health problems including kidney disease, obesity, liver disease, and heart problems.
A bird will only have insufficient intake of nutrients from a pure seed diet. Even if it’s labeled “fortified seed diet”, the ration will still fall short of your pet bird’s dietary needs since it will leave the hull uneaten and eat only the inside of most seeds. As a result, a bird won’t be able to get nutrients abundant on the hull.
To make sure your Lovebirds’ basic nutritional needs are met daily, provide them with a good quality pellet diet. Seeds should only be a portion of your pet’s daily ration. Commercial pellets are specially formulated to meet the birds’ dietary requirements and can easily be bought at pet stores.
