Chameleons

Chameleons are known for being able to change their body colors to perfectly blend with their surroundings, making them invisible from potential predators. Changing colors is also a way to regulate their body temperature, and a mode of communication with other chameleons. These lizards have a long, sticky tongue that helps them catch flies.

Juvenile chameleons are usually brown or gray in color and can change colors quite a bit; however as they reach 5 months old, the ability to change shades is now enhanced.

Chameleons have stricter requirements when it comes to their management and care. They will thrive with lots of fresh air and sunshine. Panther chameleons (Chamaeleo pardalis) and the three-horned Jackson’s chameleon (Chamaeleo jacksoni) are among the popular species which are raised as pets.

Male chameleons have long, horn-like appendages over each eye and on their snout. Females, on the other hand, only have traces of these appendages.

Keep your pet healthy and active by bringing him regularly to a West Houston veterinary clinic. Visit this website for more details.
