3:11 AM Aggression in Rabbits |
Some rabbits display aggressive behavior that should be addressed immediately. Knowing how to tell the difference between what is normal behavior from the undesirable is important. Nipping in rabbits is not considered an aggressive behavior because it is one way by which they communicate. However, you can train your pet to ease up on his biting by squealing when he nips, since some nips can become quite painful. You may have noticed your rabbit attempting to bite or swipe at your hand when you reach into his cage. This is a normal behavior where your rabbit reacts when he feels you are encroaching in his territory. Aggressive actions in rabbits are often displayed when they attack, chase, or bite hard without provocation or just cause. Aggression is usually common among intact rabbits, and is usually prominent as they reach sexual maturity. Once a rabbit is altered, aggression usually reduces and diminishes within a month or two.
