There is a very easy way to tell if your dog’s collar is too loose or too tight by just simply slipping two fingers in underneath the collar. If you cannot get two fingers in, the collar is too tight and if you can get two fingers in too easily, then the collar is a little bit too loose.

The importance of getting the dog’s collar rightly positioned is, if it is too loose your dog may either get choked up accidentally or your dog may be able to slip the collar off completely.

A collar that is too tight will not only choke your dog for sure, but it can also wear away at your dog’s skin and chafe the skin, causing an infection eventually and a lot of discomfort to your dog. Learn more about dogs by visiting this site for the vet Greeley.

As any long-haired cat owner can tell you, a cat with an abundance of hair can be affected by static electricity on a regular basis.

To your cat, this is an annoying and sometimes startling experience, just walking along and minding its own business and ZAP…. It frightens your cat and if it happens enough times, can become annoying.

Your cat’s fur is responding to the overly dry conditions in your home (which usually increases in the winter months when there is heat on) but there are a couple of things you can do to help your cat avoid having static and minor heart attacks.

A humidifier puts moisture in the air and will help with those days that your home is overly dry.

You can even get a little spray bottle (like the ones you would use to mist plants) and spritz your cat a little bit, just enough to lightly moisten its hair, and this will also induce your cat to clean its ... Read more »

Your dog needs to know that good behaviour when visiting the vet for an examination is worthy of a treat or reward for such good behaviour.

The vet has enough to do without having to worry about controlling your dog and working at the same time. As the dog’s owner, you are responsible for keeping your dog under control and still while the vet completes the examination.

If your dog is fighting or struggling to get away from the vet, then everyone’s job is harder and the exam will take longer than is necessary.

Once your dog learns that good behaviour is rewarded, it will be more eager to please you and receive its treat once the visit is over.

This is good practice for your dog to also learn to behave in other places, not just the vet’s. This site of the vet Loveland can help you to learn more.

The Oriental Fire-Bellied Toad, also referred to as Oriental Bell Toad, can grow to a length of about 2 inches. They come from China, Russia, and Korea. There are also Fire-Bellied toads from Europe and North Africa.

Four toads can be housed comfortably in a 10-gallon vivarium fitted with a screen top. Many pet owners choose to have 6 or more toads for a better visual appeal. The easiest vivarium setup to maintain includes a gravel bed shoreline, and a combination of shallow water and land. The substrate simulates the shoreline of a pond or stream. You can add some wood and small pebbles along the edge of the water to hold the gravel in place while adding to the enclosure’s visual appeal.

Light in the vivarium can be provided by one or two bulbs that runs the length of the tank. Water in this type of vivarium must be changed at least once a week. The gravel must be flushed th ... Read more »

One of the most common mistakes cat owners make is overfeeding their feline pets. In fact, obesity is the number one nutritional disease among cats.

Although your chubby kitty may look endearing, obesity has been associated with important health issues including diabetes, some forms of cancer, arthritis, and urinary tract problems.

It is not really the intention of most cat owners to give more food than what their pets really need. Today’s cats live more sedentary lifestyles compared to their ancestors who lived active lives as barn cats. Most pet cats today are certified couch potatoes, thus their need for calories are much lower.

The usual recommendation regarding how much your cat needs daily ranges between 24-36 calories per pound of body weight. However, you may need to ask your pet clinic Vancouv ... Read more »
