Why Cats Stop Cleaning Themselves

One benefit of owning a cat is the fact that they generally clean themselves. That means no baths! Unfortunately, there are a few instances when a cat might stop cleaning himself.

If your cat is getting older, arthritis might be the problem. As joints become more and more painful, it becomes more difficult for your feline to contort into positions that allow him to get every inch of himself clean.

Does your cat have long hair? If so, he might not be able to keep up with all the cleaning that’s needed. Regular baths, cat-friendly wipes, and having your cat shaved are all solutions to this problem.

Cats with a medical or psychological condition may also stop grooming themselves. To get to the bottom of your cat’s grooming problems, click here, or schedule an appointment with your veterinarian Tri-Cities, MI.
