1:35 PM Switching Cat Foods |
Even if your cat has taken well to the pet food brand that you are giving him now, there may come a time when you need to switch your kitty’s food to another brand. Whatever the reason may be for the change, it must be done gradually over a period of 10-14 days to ensure that your pet won’t have any digestive upsets.
Here are some reasons that may warrant switching your kitty’s pet food to another brand:
Your pet is diagnosed with a health condition that needs a special prescribed diet. The pet food brand is not always available in stores. You want to change your pet’s food to a premium quality product which you think is of a higher quality.
The adjustment period will give enough time for your pet’s digestive system to get used to the new pet food. If your cat is quite finicky, he may need a longer period of transition. However, most cats will take to new pet food without any hassles.
