It does not take you long to get your training completed, but those first few weeks can be harrowing while you are trying to run down the list of what your cat could possibly want, when it meows THAT way.

The different tones your cat uses and the intensity of each one, is something that humans can understand, but your clever cat is also implementing body language to “help you along” so that its intensions are clear and understandable by you.

While longhaired cats seem to shed in a similar manner to shorthaired cats, there are often assumptions made regarding the amounts. Most cats shed regardless of breed and type of coat. The amount of shedding will be difficult to predict prior to bringing them home, and there is no way to determine if the longhaired cat will shed more or less than a shorthaired cat. Only time will be able to tell you this as each pet is an individual and faces different health and environmental conditions.

If you are concerned about shedding, try to maintain a proper grooming schedule with regular bushings. Also, since healthy fur starts with a healthy body, be proactive and feed your cat a diet made up of whole foods. These will diminish the amount of fur found around the home and help ensure your pet will have a healthy coat. Please contact your local veterinary clinic Montgomery County ... Read more »
