Because of all the breeding that goes on with cats, it is not always a “what you see, is what you get” situation, you could be disappointed if your expectations are set too high.

One breed of cat that does not stray too far from its anticipated behaviour is the Bombay breed of cat.

This is a hybrid cross of a Burmese and a black American shorthair, which has resulted in a more heartier and healthy cat.

One of the benefits to this particular breed is, through the crossbreeding process, it is less vocal and prefers to purr more when it is content.

These great cats shed little hair, are clever and they love the company of their owners and have no qualms with showing affection to their owners. Follow the link to the site of the animal hospital Boston. More info can be found there.

There are plenty of non-veterinarian web sites on the internet that claim you, as a cat owner, should put together an emergency first aid kit for your cat in case something manageable and minor happens.

If you actually have put together a first aid kit together for your cat, THROW IT AWAY.

Why should people not try to administer first aid to their cat?

This answer is simple….when a cat is in pain (from whatever) or it is feeling upset, ill or just miserable….it has the potential to ATTACK YOU if you try to handle the wound or problem with your cat.

Your cat is not prone to attacking you, but quick as a flash, your cat might bite you and scratch as a warning that you are being too rough with it or that what you’re doing is amplifying the pain.

Leave emergencies to your vet, to save yourself some pain. Take ... Read more »

Did you know that outdoor cats that are older only have a six or seven year life expectancy?

The older cat that is fortunate enough to live inside where it can be well taken care of can keep on living for up to eighteen years.

That is a huge life expectancy difference!

Does this mean that older cats that reside outside are more prone to passing away from health issues and attacks made on them by predators?

Absolutely.

Older cats are just targets in the outdoors to be attacked, by other animals and health illnesses that are not being attended to.

An outdoor cat can be plagued with diseases, parasites, viruses and other medical issues that can arise and because of the lack of treatment, these solvable problems can kick start more health issues. The site for the veterinarians Waverly has more info for you.

If your cat is suffering from tooth pain or gum pain, it will cease eating and its breath will tell the tale, it will have a foul odor usually.

Other medical issues can also affect your cats appetite, but usually dental issues is the culprit and it will not take you long to find out from your veterinarian if this is the case.

Your cat can suffer from infection of the gums, receded gums, gum disease or inflammation.

Indoor cats are more susceptible to dental problems because they are not taking care of their dental issues as they would in the wild.

A toothache, as you know, can cause moodiness, lack of appetite and overall miserableness, so having your cat taken care of by your vet will not allow it to suffer, as you would not allow yourself to suffer. Follow the link to the site of the veterinarian Broken Arrow.
