6:40 AM Playing with your new kitten |
Kittens have their own specific needs that their owners must address. Since their playtime mimics their developing hunting skills, it is beneficial to choose toys that foster these skills and help them expand their innate nature to pounce on prey. However, it is also important that these instincts are taught in a way that also fosters safe play between family members and the new addition. Since wild kittens would naturally be taught to play nice by their littermates - who are likely no longer in your cat’s life - it is essential that you and your family facilitate this learning when possible. Inappropriate behavior, like biting, can be decreased by removing the stimulus to show your kitten that when it happens, playtime is over. Patience and time will teach your new pet what is and isn’t acceptable. Details can be provided by your animal hospital Waverly. |
