If you’re looking for a new companion to add to your family, hamsters can be a great choice. Consider adopting a Teddy Bear Hamster if you want to adopt a hamster, but are looking for something a bit different.

Teddy Bear Hamsters are a long-haired version of the Syrian hamster. The length of their hair can vary from a short halo of fuzz to a long, lengthy mane that must be groomed. In most cases, Teddy Bear Hamsters are golden in color, but they do have white spotting and some are a bit browner than others.

On average, they grow anywhere between 4 and 5 inches in length and live for 2 or 3 years. Because they are nocturnal, they will spend the majority of the day sleeping and the majority of the night active.

Getting your cat to use the litter box consistently can sometimes be a challenge. However, keeping cat litter out of your cat’s fur can also be a huge challenge.

The coat type of your cat makes a big difference. Cats with single, short coats rarely, if ever, have issues with litter in their fur. Cats with a fluffy undercoat and long hair tend to have more problems, especially if they’re overweight.

Start with a high-quality litter first and make sure you clean and change the litter often. Clean, high-quality litter is less likely to stick to your cat than dirty, low-quality litter.

Groom your cat often. Check to make sure that he hasn’t got any litter issues each day and you can prevent painful clumping and matting.

For cats that continually have a problem, you can consider saving them. For recommendations of groomers in your area, call your veterinary clinic Indianapolis.

The African Pygmy hedgehog is the most popular hedgehog being kept as a pet. If you are planning to bring home a hedgehog or two, make sure you are aware of the distinct features of the species.

Hedgehogs are nocturnal, thus they naturally spend the day sleeping, becoming more active as the day draws to a close and during the night. They can be quite noisy as they interact with other hedgehogs while you are sleeping.

Hedgehogs are omnivores, thus they thrive on a diet that contains both meat and plant components.

If you want a cuddly pet, a hedgehog is not for you. Although they are cute, they won’t make good lap pets. The main reason is obviously the presence of spines that cover their entire body, save for their underside. The spines don’t have barbed ends thus they can easily be removed when they get stuck in your hand. Fear can c ... Read more »

One important consideration when choosing pet food is the product’s digestibility. Food that can easily be digested can also be metabolized efficiently into simplest forms which can readily be used by the body for energy, as well as growth and maintenance of body organs.

Pet food products often vary greatly in their digestibility which is based on the ingredients which are used in their formulation. How these products are processed can also influence their digestibility.

Digestibility of pet food can be estimated by measuring the difference between the amount of nutrients in the pet food and the amount present in the fecal matter. The higher the digestibility, the more energy and nutrients which are available for the physiological processes of the animal’s body; it will also mean more efficient feeding and less fecal waste.

Dogs suffering from excessive bouts of flatulence can quickly mess up a room’s air quality. Although the gas they emit is not really harmful to humans, the smell is often terrible.

Flatulence in dogs is often caused by eating too fast, eating poor quality pet food, eating ‘gassy’ foods such as beans and cauliflower, and as a result of the normal process of food digestion, absorption, and elimination within the digestive tract.

If you think your dog is eating too fast, divide his daily ration into smaller portions, given at specific hours throughout the day. Feed your pet in a part of the house with less traffic so he can eat without any disturbance. Sometimes a dog may try to eat too quickly because he fears his food will be taken away or eaten by other pets in the household.

Regular adequate exercise has also been shown to boo ... Read more »

If your pet dog loves jumping up on people, particularly visitors, try putting him in another room when visitors arrive. Give treats to your guests to be given to your dog; instruct them to ask your pet to sit before offering the treat. This will eventually teach your pooch to sit in front of visitors as he comes out from the room, instead of jumping up on them.

When addressing your pet’s jumping behavior, make sure all household members are also participating in the regimen. A dog won’t understand why some members of the household allow jumping while others don’t.

If your dog loves jumping up on you as you enter the house, this usually shows how overly excited he is with your arrival, but failed to get any attention as you walked in through the door. Jumping up on you is his way of trying to catch your attention. Even if you yell at him to stop and try to push hi ... Read more »
