Digging

Digging is a natural instinct in dogs. While some dogs can be successfully taught to refrain from engaging in the habit, it can be difficult to eliminate in some dogs. Training a dog to stop digging involves catching him in the act. Say “no” in a firm but calm voice, and distract him with a toy. You should correct him when he is digging, not afterward.
