To your dog that is still getting used to you bringing strangers into your home, this can be a bit confusing. Your dog will rush to the door when someone is there to assist you to greet this person on the other side.

Sometimes you invite that person into your home and sometimes you don’t, and your dog is trying to figure this out.

Your dog is apprehensive of everyone that enters your home that is not family. Your dog’s first reaction is to guard and protect the family, but you are smiling and your dog senses you are at ease around this stranger. Easily, your dog is taking its cues from you, but in a situation where a new person is in the home and you should act like you are in distress, your dog may attack them.

As with any pet, chameleons need proper care and veterinary attention for a long and healthy life. These flamboyant reptiles are quite delicate, and have very definite requirements that need to be satisfied. Without proper care and nutrition, your chameleon can easily suffer from health problems. 

Chameleons are carnivores. You can give your pet a cricket diet. However, crickets should not be more than 50% of your pet chameleon’s diet. It will also benefit from commercial gut-loaded food as well as green and leafy veggies.

Spray the prey items with calcium supplement during every other feeding. For variety, you can also give other species of insects and larvae. Beetles and frequent feeding of mealworms should not be done, for they are difficult to digest.  Adult chameleons are fed once every day, while juveniles require several small feedings per day.

If you don’t know cats that well, you might ask yourself why bother having a cat door installed on an interior door. Cats are private individuals and they value their privacy. In a multi-pet households, or if there are small kids in the house, the litter box and cat food will be safer behind a closed door. This will keep dogs from eating on cat food or having access to the litter box.
