10:08 AM Your Cat’s Ears |
Your cat has an amazing sense of hearing that is thousands of times more powerful than our own. Her ears have a number of special features to enhance her hearing. The ears are perched at a high vantage point on top of her head and shaped to direct sound into them. She can turn them to help locate the source of any sounds she may hear and want to investigate or escape from. The ears work independently to help determine the distance from sounds. Keep your cat’s ears clean. Use cat-safe ear rinse and cotton balls to remove excess wax and debris. If you use cotton swabs, only reach in as far as you can see to avoid damage to the ear canal. Examine your cat’s ears for scratches, cuts and signs of infection such as redness or swelling and excess or dark-colored discharge. These conditions will require medical attention.
