Yes, cats can experience allergies the same way as people. They just do not get bogged down with symptoms. Your cat has an immune system just like you, but it works in a different way.

When allergens (or antigens) are present that affect your cat, it begins to have an allergic reaction. Allergens that set off your cat would be foreign or unknown things that your cat has either not come into contact with before, or has, but did only for a short time.

Your cat’s immune system kicks into high gear and overreacts to this new allergen and tries to remove it from its system. It’s too bad that people’s immune systems were not as fast-acting or as strong as a cat’s.
