Generally, hamsters are self-groomers and won’t need regular grooming; however, the long-haired Syrian hamsters usually need occasional grooming to remove debris from their long hair coat. You can use a soft bristle brush or soft toothbrush to groom your hamsters.
Bathing of hamsters removes the natural oils present in his coat. It can also make him vulnerable to catching a chill. Your hamsters will enjoy sand baths so you can put in a dish that contains sand every now and then. This can also help remove grease that may buildup on their coat. Make sure to use very fine sand available in pet stores.
Tooth Trimming
With the right food, hamsters won’t need tooth trimming. They keep their teeth short by constant gnawing. However, you should check their teeth regularly, and if you think their teeth are too long, take your pet to a vet who will trim them.
