5:20 PM The Superhound |
The American Kennel Club affectionately refers to the American English Coonhound as a superhound. This breed loves to hunt, run, and play hard. He’s easy to train and enjoys being outdoors, going on long walks, backpacking, hiking and of course hunting. Just be ready for your coonhound to turn superhound at the faintest scent of prey. It’s their natural instinct to run and if they smell something they will take off. But don’t worry, they’re super vocal and will bark to alert you to their whereabouts once the prey has been tracked down. The coonhound can stand anywhere between 23 and 26 inches and weigh between 45 and 65 pounds. They have a hard protective cut to withstand weather and terrain. Their coats are medium and can come in red and white ticked, blue and white ticked, tri-colored with ticking, red and white, and white and black.
