Everyone knows they’re supposed to play with their pet, but what about exercise? Playing with a dog and exercising a dog are two very different things, after all. How do you make sure your cat gets enough exercise?

You can’t really take your cat for a walk, which means all of his exercise will come from playtime. In order to make sure he gets the exercise he needs, you have to be very mindful of how you play with your feline friend.

Try and get your cat moving when you play. Letting him bat absentmindedly at a toy isn’t enough. Drag a wand toy through the house and have your cat chase after you, or make him run after a laser pointer.

If your cat is panting when you’re finished playing, you’ve done your job! For more tips, visit with your veterinarian Mt. Pleasant, SC. You can also visit http://catvetmtpleasantsc.com/ to know more.

There’s nothing quite like petting a cat with a long, luxurious coat. The bad news is that long coats come with some challenges. It isn’t uncommon for cats to end up with matted fur, and it hurts!

Mats develop as a result of dead hair. Your cat’s coat is shedding and growing new hair all the time. If his fur is long and dense enough, that dead hair can get trapped. As it sits and collects in the coat, it starts to mat together.

These mats can become painful because they develop so close to the skin. As the dead hair entangles itself with the hair that’s still attached to your cat, it can pull on the hairs, making the area very tender and uncomfortable.

It’s important to groom your cat regularly to avoid mats. For help taking care of your cat’s mat problem, schedule an appointment with your professional Mt. Pleasant SC veterinarian.

It often appears as small hemorrhages on the gums or as large amounts of mucus in the mouth. If you own a cat like the Ragdoll it may be a good idea to talk with your local pet store associate and your veterinarian to find out what kinds of foods, treats and other snacks you can and cannot feed your cat. For instance, some foods that are tasty for people may actually cause severe harm to your cat. Talk with your vet to find out what foods should be avoided. For example, keep bread dough away from your Ragdoll. The dough itself is not toxic; however, the yeast in the dough can be hazardous to cats. A cat’s stomach provides an ideal environment for swallowed yeast or dough to expand and rise. This can cause stomach expansion and decreased blow flow. Yeast also metabolizes the sugar in the dough causing the production of alcohol. The alcohol absorbed in your Ragdoll’s stomach may also result in intoxification. Talk with your veterinary clinic St. Cloud, MN for more information. Visit this link for details: ... Read more »

If you have a Leopard Gecko for a pet then you may find that overtime, his nails become long, pointed and sharp. Geckos that don’t live in the wild aren’t given the opportunity to naturally file down their nails over rough surfaces and terrain. Pet Leopard Geckos will need to have their nails trimmed routinely. If you’re going to trim the nails yourself then you should keep a couple of things in mind. First, the claws are in two parts. There is a thicker part extending from the toe and then a thin, razor sharp point that comes off the end of the main claw. You can use nail clippers when your lizard is young. However, you will need specifically designed lizard clippers for trimming when he’s older. If you’re not sure about trimming the nails on your own, give your veterinarian St. Cloud, MN a call and ask for assistance.

Owning a pet Sussex rabbit can be a lot of fun. They are cute critters and they love to play with others. It’s important to handle your rabbit daily and allow him to have free roam time to help build trust and companionship. As a reward, you can feed your rabbit treats like carrots or small pieces of leafy greens. Never feed your rabbit bread as a treat or meal replacer. Bread is filled with carbohydrates and sugars, which are hard for rabbits and other animal types to digest. Wheat bread is especially loaded with all the wrong ingredients that your rabbit does not need. If you want to feed a treat other than veggies, try some vet recommended fruits. You can also talk with your local pet store associate about snacks bade specifically for rabbits. If your Sussex rabbit gets a hold of bread and eats it, give your vet Sauk Rapids, MN a call.
