As your cat ages, she may change from your cuddly companion to a crabby old lady. Check that there aren’t any medical issues causing changes in your cat. Dental disease can cause pain and trouble eating. Senior cats may suffer from arthritis and mobility issues. Obesity intensifies these issues. Your senior cat may also have some difficulties seeing and hearing and may even have dementia. Try to keep feeding and exercise routines as normal as possible. You may need to hand feed your kitty to make sure she eats properly. Check that your cat can get in and out of her litter box easily. Give her space to hide if she wants since she may need additional sleep. Follow your cat’s lead on how much cuddling and petting she wants. Be patient and continue to show her love.
