Rabbits do need to have their nails trimmed; without which, their nails can grow long and can become uncomfortable. When pet rabbits are allowed to play outside their cages regularly, their nails will seldom need any training. This is especially true when the surfaces they frequent are quite rough, keeping their nails to a desired length.

Care should be taken to ensure that your pet won’t suffer any pain and bleeding when you cut his nails.  Your pet rabbit should get used to having his paws handled while still very young. It is also important for your pet to associate nail trimming and grooming, in general, as a positive experience. This can be achieved by giving your pet some of his favorite treats while you are clipping his nails.
