9:48 AM Wire Cages For Pet Rats |
A wire-coated enclosure with a detachable plastic base can make an excellent abode for pet rats. The plastic base is useful in containing litter and waste materials. A multi-level enclosure will give your pet rats lots of opportunities to explore and engage in natural behaviors. But steer clear of very tall cages because mice can fall off and become seriously injured. This can be due to their poor sense of sight. As a guide, look for a cage that is 24 inches (length) by 12 inches (width). This is the minimum specification. Be sure to buy a cage that is specifically made for mice. They can easily squeeze between the bars because of their small size. when shopping for a wire cage, always check the size of the cage openings as well as the space between bars or wires. The space between wires should be a quarter inch or less so they won’t be able to squeeze through. Cover the wire floor with cardboard, vinyl or ceramic tiles because the wire can be uncomfortable for their tiny soft paws.
