5:31 PM Retrieving Your Pet Bird from a Tree |
If you haven’t properly clipped your bird’s wings, you may find that he has escaped and has flown up a tree. Fortunately, with a little patience, you can retrieve your bird quickly and harmlessly. Have a friend or family member who your bird recognizes under the tree. Ask them to speak calmly to your bird while you situate a ladder against the trunk of the tree. As you climb the ladder, make sure they continue calling to your bird. It is important that you or someone else your bird knows well climbs the ladder. If you send a stranger up to collect your bird, he’s likely to fly away. Take a treat with you and calmly reach for your bird. You can even try calling your bird to you if he is familiar with such a command. If you require further assistance, call your vet Thorold. |
