8:53 AM Handling an Adult Iguana |
Part of owning a pet is getting to hold it and spend time with it. Unfortunately, when it comes to adult iguanas, this is often easier said than done. In general, iguanas don’t want to be picked up, even if they have been handled from a very young age. Their initial reaction is to hang on tightly to whatever it is they are sitting on. Approach your iguana slowly. Don’t try and yank your lizard off of his perch. Release each foot one at a time before picking him up. Once your iguana’s grip has been loosened, place one hand underneath his shoulders and another hand under his back legs. After your iguana has been removed from the cage, you can place him in one hand, allowing your forearm to support the full length of his body. If you would like a demonstration, schedule an appointment with your vet Arlington. |
