You will soon be the proud owner of some chickens, and you know that you will need to create a chicken coop for them. What should you consider when looking into them?
Your chicken coop will need to be an appropriate size for the amount of chickens you care for. Make sure it is large enough to house them comfortably, and that they will be able to move about without difficulty inside it. The coop should have places for your chickens to lay their eggs as well. It should also block your pets from the elements, so it should be safe for them to spend time in overnight. Make sure predators can’t get into it, and that you can keep your chickens safely contained when you need to. Your best animal hospital Chattanooga, TN can help you better understand your pet.

Your bird is a big part of your life, and it bothers you to think about the fact that she is plucking some of her feathers out. Why is she doing this?
Your pet needs you to understand that she is going through something even she doesn’t understand. Many birds live in large groups in the wild, then are brought into a home as a pet on their own. The security they felt in the group is gone, and they feel vulnerable and unsure of how to deal with this. Feather plucking often ensues due to their discomfort and inability to figure out another plan of action. If you notice your pet taking part in this behavior, schedule an appointment to have her evaluated and make a point to talk to her veterinarian about ways to help her. For additional information, please contact your local pet clinic Chattanooga, TN.

Your cat is an excellent housemate in most respects, but you could certainly do without her scratching on your belongings. How can you choose a product to scratch on that will deter her from your furniture?
Your pet needs you to consider the areas where she scratches now. She may like them because they are convenient and close to where she spends her time. She may also like the way they feel on her claws and she may have a preference for vertical or horizontal surfaces. Try to mimic her choices in an item that is made to hold up to scratching to increase the chances of her utilizing it. Place it nearby so it is readily available and direct her attention toward it if you catch her scratching elsewhere. For additional information, please contact

If you share your home with a dog or a cat, there is a good chance that you have heard someone talk about microchipping. What exactly is a microchip?
Microchipping a pet refers to the process of inserting a small chip underneath the skin of a pet’s upper back. This microchip is a piece of technology that can be scanned at animal shelters and veterinary clinics in order to bring up your contact information. This can then help others let you know where your pet is should she ever become separated from you. You register the chip and alter the contact information should it change so it is always up to date. The procedure to insert it is rather quick, and your pet won’t know the chip is there once it’s in place. Your local vet care Cleveland, TN can offer additional guidance.

Your cat spends a lot of time in your home, and you know that while this area is nice, it is a limited amount of space for her to call her own. How can you keep her entertained while indoors?
Your pet needs you to think about what she needs from you for care, as well as what she would like to do with her free time. A lot of her time will be spent meeting her needs, so make a point to have everything she needs available to her in order to make this happen. In addition to this, you should have suitable activities for her to come across around your living space. Leave a few toys out for her to play with, and consider leaving other areas of interest open, like a nice spot in front of a window for her to watch the world go by. Most cats do not chew, but occasionally you will come across one that enjoys a good gnaw on the furniture. Chewing isn’t particular to any breed. Your Persian, shorthair or even your Chartreux could develop a chewing habit at a young age if it’s not prevented at first notice. The best way to help train your kitten or cat out of chewing is to use a deterrent like a no-chew spray. You can find these types of sprays at the pet store most commonly in the puppy aisle. Spray the no-chew spray on the items that the cat is chewing on. The smell and the sour taste will help teach your cat to stay away. If your cat finds a new chewing target spray that as well. For excessive chewing that won’t stop, give your Temecula, CA veterinarian a call as some chewing could be a symptom of an underlying illness. Read more here.

The Chartreux cat is a rare and unique breed of cat. Originating in Persia, it is said the cat came with the knights to French monasteries after the Crusades. Documents dating the 16th century mention the breed. Some of the cats moved on with the knights while others stayed on at the monasteries earning their name Chartreux. The breed soon came to be known for their playfulness, energy, dog like behavior and their ability to smile. That’s right, this cat loves to smile or at least appears to. The Chartreux loves to be center of attention, held and handled, and enjoys following his people around. He is overall happy cat that can be trained to play fetch, walk on a leash and respond to his name. Kittens are especially playful and don’t reach maturity until three years of age. They love to chirp more than meow. If you want to learn more, talk with your Temecula, CA veterinarian. Or visit this link:

The Chartreux is known for its blue coat, dense undercoat, wool like fur, and gold or copper eyes. This sturdy cat is rather muscular and broad shouldered with smaller, short fine boned legs. His eyes are round like the Persians and curve out at the corners. The breed made its way to France in the 16th century where it put down roots and established its breed. However, over time the breed became rare. In 1970 it was imported to the U.S. Breeders often send purebred Chartreux cats back to France to help repopulate the breed. A French couple tried outcrossing the breed with Persians and British Shorthairs to revive the breed, but developed the European shorthair instead. Finding a purebred Chartreux can be quite difficult now days although not impossible. For help finding a breeder, speak with your pet clinic Temecula, CA. You should also be prepared to pay a steep price.
