Walking your Beagle in the warmer months of spring and summer can be very different from walking him in the fall and winter. During these warmer months you will want to make sure you keep your Beagle cool and hydrated while on his walk. Your vet may recommend keeping your Beagle indoors more often and not walking him during the hottest part of the day. If you do go for a walk during a hot part of the day make sure you take water with you. Walk for a short distance and stop for a water break for yourself and your Beagle. Avoid walking in the open sunlight and instead find shady areas to walk. You may want to take your dog to an indoor dog park if possible. You can also plan to take your longer walks in the cooler hours of the evening. Contact your vet Glenwood Springs, CO for more details.

If your Pug does not have a collar then you might want to look into getting him one. Sure, collars can be thought of as just a fashion statement, but they also have a purpose. Your Pug’s collar provides a way for him to carry ID. If you want your Pug to wear a collar and identification tags, talk to your vet to find out what type of collar to get your Pug and what size. When shopping for a collar, note the tag’s fitting instructions. Look to see if the Pug breed is listed on the collar. Most collars will include a size chart with the suggested breeds listed under each size. Once you find the right collar, try it on your Pug. As a general rule, make sure you can fit two fingers underneath the collar to ensure it’s not too tight or too loose. Talk to your veterinary clinic Frederick, MD for more tips.

If you’ve been to the collar, leash and harness aisle of your local pet store then chances are you’ve seen the numerous styles, colors, and sizes of collars available for dogs and cats. Some Japanese Bobcat owners prefer not to have their cats wear collars while others enjoy dressing up their bobcats with the latest diamond studded neck wear. In general, one of the primary reasons for a bobtail to wear a collar is for identification purposes. If you choose to have your bobtail wear a collar make sure you buy one designed specifically for a cat. Most cat collars are designed with a break-away clasp or a stretchy material that allows the cat to get out of the collar if she gets stuck. Keep in mind your cat’s environment when picking out a collar as well. Your veterinary clinic Georgetown IN may recommend a reflective collar for outside cats.

While not all cats are reactive to catnip, those that do will display distinct behaviors as they rub and roll on the plant or object that had been wiped with catnip. Rubbing catnip stimulates the release of nepelactone, the oil which can trigger behavior changes in catnip-reactive cats.  Catching a whiff of nepelactone can transform a cat into a seemingly euphoric state. When a catnip-sensitive cat comes across a catnip plant, he may rub or roll on the herb so that most of his body is covered with the oil; some even eat catnip. However, studies have shown that when a cat ingests catnip, it exerts a calming effect rather than a euphoric one. The cat appears relaxed, or even sedated. The effects, however, usually subside after ten minutes or so. It has also been noted that cats that have frequent contact with catnip appear not to react to the plant in the long run. Many pet owners assume that visits to the vet clinic are only made when their pet appears to be sick, something that they are unable to deal on their own. This point of view can make appointments to the veterinarian taxing for both pets and their owners. If a pet owner feels apprehensive during visits to the vet, the negative feelings are infectious and will eventually rub off on their pets. However, a change in the pet owner’s outlook can be an important factor in how pets view visits to the vet clinic.

Annual health checks are important milestones in a pet’s life. Bringing your pet to the vet on pre-designated dates is important because it is an important way of taking a proactive approach to the animal’s health and welfare.
