Your pet is a part of your family, and you want to be able to include her in your holiday celebrations in addition to the rest of your household. How can you do this?

Many holiday celebrations aren’t designed for pets to take part in, but this doesn’t mean that your pet can’t join in on the fun. Have her stay close by during appropriate activities, and offer her attention throughout this time. When necessary, try to alter things so she can celebrate too. This may include things like playing a game she will enjoy, teaching guests to interact with her, or offering her an extra special treat. The important part is that you show her that you care about her, so take the time to show her some affection any chance you get. Cleaning your pet bird’s cage is a necessary part of bird ownership. If done with regularity, it doesn’t have to be an awful, gross task. Remove uneaten food from the cage daily so it doesn’t spoil. Rinse out and refill food and water cups daily. Do a thorough cage cleaning once a week. Remove your bird from its cage so you don’t disturb and upset it. Remember that your bird needs supervision whenever it is outside the cage. Remove all toys, climbing apparatus and perches. Scrape away any dropping and clean them thoroughly. Your dog may do a lot of things you find to be entertaining, but her barking isn’t exactly your favorite habit that she has. Why does he tend to bark so often?

Your pet loves you, and he really wants to have a strong bond with you. This means that he wants to both spend time alongside you, and have you offer him your attention. Barking is one way that he is able to communicate with you, and this is why he utilizes it so readily. He barks when he wants you to pay attention to him, wants to show you something he thinks you should be aware of, or needs you to know something. This may mean he wants to play, to show you a chipmunk outside your window, or is letting you know he needs to head outside to use the restroom. Your local Marietta, GA vet clinic can offer additional advice. Visit http://smyrnaveterinary.com/ to know more.

Exercise is one of the most important activities that people and dogs can do. Exercise helps keep dogs like the Yellow Lab in motion and encourages them to get up and get moving instead of sleeping all day. Your vet can tell you that exercise requirements or routines should be thought out for your Yellow Lab or other type of dog so that the task fits your dog’s particular needs. For instance, your laid back and calm Yellow Lab may be large, but he may not need as much exercise as your neighbor’s over excited, super energetic Pomeranian. Your Yellow Lab may also need more exercise than a dog like the Bichon due to his size, activity levels and lifestyle. Your veterinarian Olathe, KS can help you determine the type and amount of exercise your particular dog needs. Typically, all dogs do well with a daily walking routine, but check with your vet first.

Does your Beagle like to explore and play a little rough? If so, then you might want to establish a secure, safe zone in your home where your Beagle can roam and play without getting into trouble. A safe zone may be an area where he can play or it may be a set of rooms where your Beagle can play and roam around. Bathrooms, kitchens, and laundry areas are usually recommended. Use a baby gate or other dog fence to block your Beagle in his area while giving him the opportunity to see what’s happening around him. Do not close him completely by shutting the door or sealing off the entrances. Make sure to place his bed, toys, food and water in the room and don’t forget to place all non-dog objects out of reach. If you’re concerned about the safety zone you’ve created, talk with your vet Olathe, KS. Visit their site for additional details.

If your Thoroughbred is not accustomed to being turned out on grass then you will need to take extra precautions if you move your horse to a facility with all day access to grass. If your horse goes from no grass a day to hours of grass daily then he could colic or founder or develop laminitis. To avoid this your vet may suggest that you hand graze your horse for a few weeks to help build up his system and prepare him to handle the new grass in his diet. Hand grazing is when you lead your Thoroughbred to a grassy area and simply allow him to graze while you are holding onto the lead rope. Hand grazing allows you to control the amount of grass your horse consumes. Your veterinary clinic Olathe, KS may suggest hand grazing 15 to 30 minutes daily to start with the intention of building up to several hours on grass.
