6:04 AM Your Cat’s Ability to Land on Her Feet |
Your cat has a righting reflex so she can turn around quickly during a fall and land on her feet. Her flexible spine helps her make this turn quickly and the fluid in your cat’s inner ear helps her keep track of which way is up. However, just because your cat can land on her feet doesn’t mean she won’t be hurt in a fall. If the fall is too short, your cat may not have the time to reposition herself and she could crash to the ground. If the fall is too high, she may land on her feet but suffer devastating injuries. She could experience orthopedic injuries to her feet and legs as they act as shock absorbers. If her belly hits the ground your cat could suffer from internal injuries. And if she bangs her head, it could be disastrous. Thus it is important to avoid falls. For more information, contact your recommended veterinarian Carmel IN. |
