Why a Cat Wiggle their Rears before Jumping

You’ve probably seen it countless times.

Right before a cat goes to jump up on whatever it’s jumping on, you see your cat wiggle its rear right before doing this.

Most times, your cat wiggles its rear in order to help position itself before the jump. At the same time, your cat is also doing it in order to prepare its legs for the jump, for you see…a cat’s rear legs are like springs; you coil them up, and they bounce outward. A cat’s legs are the same, and your cat wiggling its rear is it preparing for such an event.

Believe it or not, if your cat does not coil its legs before jumping, it has a high chance of not jumping very high at all, and it ends up landing short of its target.
