3:30 AM What to Feed your Senior Dog |
Are you taking care of an elderly canine? If so, you may find that regular dog food is not enough for your older dog. As dogs age they require additional vitamins and nutrients that their bodies no longer produce regularly. In addition, your elderly canine may require a softer food. Regular dog foods tend to be crunchy and are often too hard for small dogs or dogs that are missing teeth. Before offering your senior hard food, check to make sure he has teeth healthy enough to chew the fund. If not, look for a softer kibble and perhaps a smaller size kibble. You may find that your senior can eat regular dog food after it has soaked for a minute in hot water. This makes the morsels soft and easy to chew with or without teeth. Wet canned food or foods like Beneful and Caesar are also good suggestions. Ask your vet Ellicott City, MD for more suggestions. |
