Swelling in a Himalayan Cat’s Eye

If your Himalalyan’s eye appears to be bulging or popping out of the socket, please call your vet immediately. In some cases, the look of the eye is worse than the actual injury or illness. Oftentimes when a cat receives an injury around the eye area swelling will occur. If the swelling is inside the head or behind the eye, then it will place pressure on the eye causing it to bulge away from the cat’s head. Your Himalayan will need treatment from a vet to determine the cause of the swelling and how to treat it. When taking your cat to the vet, try wrapping a damp cloth around the head and covering the eye so that your cat does not try to swat it the eye or scratch it. Your veterinarian Greenville, SC will need to run tests on the eye to make a diagnosis. In some cases, swilling affecting the eye will require treatment from a veterinary ophthalmologist.
