Spray Marking in Cats

Spray marking is an olfactory mode of communication in cats. It is used to establish territory, declare status in the social hierarchy, broadcast sexual availability, and reflect stress or frustration. When they come of age, cats, especially those that have not been neutered or spayed, often perform spray marking. Both male and female cats that are intact can display the behavior. Having your cat spayed or neutered can stop your pet from urine spraying or marking. However, there are instance when cats are unable to overcome the behavior; even when they are fixed, they easily revert to performing the behavior when they are exposed to certain environmental stressors. If your pet keeps on displaying this undesirable habit after being spayed or neutered, don’t hesitate to ask your vet for assistance in addressing the problem.

You should seek professional help from your Plano, TX veterinarian if you are dealing with any aggressive behavior of your pet. More details at this website Coit Hedgcoxe Animal Hospital.
