Stories about pit bulls have become more or less urban legends fueling the animosity of some people about the breed. However, many of these myths about pit bulls have been busted. Here are 2 of these myths: Myth: Pit Bulls can lock their jaws when biting something. Fact: Many people believe that once a Pit Bull bites, its jaws cannot be pried open. This myth has even gone so far as saying that its jaws cannot even be pried apart even if the dog was killed. However, this myth can easily be busted because the anatomy of a Pit Bull’s jaw is no different from any other breed of dog. There is no such thing as a locking mechanism that exists in Pit Bulls. Myth: Pit Bulls don’t feel any pain. Fact: A Pit Bull’s pain receptors and its nervous system are no different from any other dog.
