Children love dogs and dogs tend to love children, but this is not true for every dog. If you have a senior dog that doesn’t do well with loud noises or sudden movements then he probably won’t be too happy around children. Try to keep him in a room that is quiet and safe for him when there are children around. Children tend not to understand that dogs can get old and fragile. They see a dog and get super excited and want to run up to him and hug him or play with him. Sometimes children play too rough. Talk to children about your dog’s age and let them know he is old and may have trouble seeing or hearing them. Let them know he is not aggressive or mean he’s just scared and unsure. Keep children and senior dogs separate unless your dog is used to children on a daily basis. For more tips, consult with your Frisco, TX veterinarian.
