Poisonous Plants for Turtles

Turtles love to eat a variety of leafy greens, but not all leafy greens are safe. Talk to your vet Tigard, OR about the appropriate plants to feed and not to feed your pet turtle. Plants that you should ensure your turtle does not eat or have access to include the azalea, begonia, calia lilly, creeping Charlie, daffodil, elephants ear, foxglove, holly,  ivy, marigold, mistletoe, morning glory, nightshade, poinsettia, rubber tree and many more. Ask your vet or local library for a full list of toxic plants to avoid. If you allow your turtle free time to roam in your yard, make sure these plants are not present or are not in reach of your turtle. If your turtle eats any type of these plants, call your vet right away. Signs of poisoning can include tremors, excess salivation, respiratory distress, paralysis, and even death. Learn more here.
