11:58 AM Hypoglycemia in Orange Tabby Cats |
Did you know that Hypoglycemia can occur in Orange Tabby cats whether they have feline diabetes or not? Hypoglycemia is when a cat’s blood sugar or glucose level is severely low. It can cause your cat to have a sudden decrease in energy, change in appetite, appear weak, restless, confused and even pass out. Hypoglycemia can happen for a few reasons. First is the result of an underlying health issue or pre-existing health condition. For instance, another health condition can cause the brain to not recognize the insulin supply therefore causing hypoglycemia. The condition can also be caused by an incorrect insulin dosage if the cat has feline diabetes. In order to prevent hypoglycemia, make sure your Orange Tabby is receiving the correct amount of insulin recommended by the vet. Also ensure that your cat sees the animal hospital Marietta, GA for routine checkups and wellness exams. |
