One thing that is important to know about pet iguanas is that climbing and hiding are some of the activities that they love to do. With this in mind, make sure that your iguana has a selection of surfaces it can use for climbing. Some recommended materials include sterilised branches, rocks, and plants.

Provide it with a basking lamp as well and use a branch angled at 10 to 30 degrees for it to lie on. Your iguana’s tank should also be layered with substrate such as butcher paper, brown paper bags, aspen shavings, or paper towels. Do not use anything else as this may endanger your iguana should they ingest or inhale it by accident.

Use a heat pad underneath half of the aquarium to keep your iguana warm when it feels the need to bring up its body heat.
