3:01 AM Gingivitis in Jack Russell Terriers |
Did you know that gingivitis can occur in cats and dogs in much the same way it occurs in people? If you own a dog like the Jack Russell Terrier then you may want to talk to your vet about ways to keep your dog’s teeth clean. Gingivitis often develops from a buildup of tartar, plaque and food. It can create inflamed, irritated and red gums and is usually painful for your dog. Bad breath and trouble chewing are often a sign of the gum disease as well. Advanced gingivitis occurs when plaque plus a calculus build up is present on the gums causing severe redness, irritation, and inflammation. If your Jack Russell has any of these symptoms call your vet to schedule a dental exam. Gingivitis can be treated and reversed if caught in time and treated appropriately. For more details, talk with your veterinarian Columbia, MD. |
