6:23 AM Cats and milk |
Your cat means the world to you, and you enjoy seeing her day be brightened by offering a few treats. You know that she loves milk, but you’ve heard this isn’t a good snack for her. Is this true? Many people offer their cats milk and milk products, but these individuals aren’t likely aware of the fact that most adult cats are lactose intolerant. This means that their body lacks the enzyme that digests it. When eaten, it can cause stomach aches and digestive issues. Young kittens still produce this enzyme in order to process their mother’s milk, but their body stops once they get a bit older. Since an adult cat can’t tell you if they are uncomfortable after ingesting milk, it should simply be avoided to prevent any issues.
