8:24 AM Applying Bug Spray to Quarter Horses |
If you’ve worked or lived around horses for any length of time then you may have noticed that some don’t mind bug spray application while others are a bit scared of the mist. Bug spray can seem terrifying to even the quietest of horses such as the Quarter horse. The sight of the bottle, the sound and even the smell of the spray can cause alarm. There are a couple of ways that you can approach your horse when it comes to applying bug spray. First, approach your Quarter horse slowly with the spray bottle. Next, hold the bottle so your horse can see it. Allow your horse to smell the bottle and explore it a bit. Next, spray the mist near the horse, but not on him. This will help your horse adjust to hearing the sound. Always apply to the legs first as this also helps the horse adjust. Ask your veterinarians Olathe, KS for additional tips. |
