Red-eared slider turtles do well when their environmental requirements are met adequately. Their spacious tank enclosure should have an excellent filter system, a water heater, and a basking spot where a basking lamp that emits both UVA and UVB rays is hung.
Their tank needs a good filter system and regular water changes because they are messy eaters and often end up with lots of waste inside the tank. Investing in a good filter system will help maintain the cleanliness of the tank water. Choose one that can clean twice the number of gallons of water in the tank (minimum requirement).
The heat in the basking area (85-90°F) and the temperature of the water in the area (75-85°F) should be maintained because these are important factors that help turtles regulate their body temperature.
