A dirty birdcage will smell and present an unsightly mess while putting your bird’s health at risk. Throw away old food and rinse out the water bowl daily. Clean any droppings that you can remove from the cage promptly. You will need to do a thorough cleaning once a week. Remove your bird from its cage and ask someone to supervise it while you are cleaning the cage. Remove all toys, climbing apparatus and bowls and clean well using soap and water. Remove and clean perches or scrape wooden perches with a wire perch cleaner. Change the cage liner and disinfect the cage with a bird-safe spray cleaner. This will reduce the likelihood of a mite infestation or exposure to bacteria or fungus. Let all cage accessories air dry and put everything back into the cage. Return your bird to its sparkling clean cage.

There’s a lot you can do to get rid of mats on your cat. You can try brushing them out, teasing them apart with your fingers, and clipping them out with a pair of scissors. However, there are quite a few things you can do to keep those mats from developing in the first place.
First, brush your cat regularly. If your cat has long hair, or if he has a double coat, you should plan to brush him thoroughly every day or two. During the spring and summer months you may have to brush more often as this is when your cat is shedding his warmer winter coat.
If you really want to prevent mats, consider shaving your cat. If you don’t want to shave your entire feline, shave only those areas that mat the easiest.
For help grooming your cat, make a visit to your veterinary clinic Mount Pleasant, SC.

Although they don’t sleep all day long, cats love to nap, so you’re likely to come across him while he’s sleeping during the day. What do you do if he’s in the way and needs to be moved?
If it can be helped, try not to move your cat. If he’s snoozing in a living room chair or on the couch, but there are plenty of other places for you to sit, just let him be.
Sometimes, not moving the cat isn’t an option. He could be lying in your spot on the bed when it’s time to go to sleep, or lounging in your office chair when it’s time to go to work. If so, gently pick him up and place him on the floor. It’s even better if you can lay him down comfortably in another sleeping spot.
For more tips, contact your vets Mt. Pleasant SC.
