Your guinea pig needs access to fresh, clean water at all times. A water bottle is preferable to a bowl since a bowl can be knocked over easily or contaminated with droppings or bedding. Choose a water bottle that is large enough to meet your pig’s needs. This bottle should have a ball bearing at the end of a sipper tube to prevent contamination and leaking. Whether to choose a plastic or glass bottle is a matter of personal preference. Hang the bottle on the side of the cage away from where your guinea pig normally urinates. Hang it low enough so your guinea pig can reach the bottle easily but high enough that it doesn’t touch the bedding. Watch the water level throughout the day and replace the water daily.
