Your Dog’s Whiskers: Do they Serve Any Function?

Absolutely! Your dog’s whiskers serve the same purpose as a cat’s whiskers, and they are quite sensitive.

Have you ever touched your dog’s whiskers and watched your dog’s reaction?

Your dog probably did not like it when you touched them.

Whiskers, besides being sensitive, help aid a dog to sense certain things, such as air movement.

Touching your dog’s whiskers would almost feel ticklish, but not in a good way. Just like cats, they do not want you to touch them, pull on them, or tap the ends of them with your hand.

Sometimes you will see a dog’s whiskers lying flat back against their face, and sometimes they are straight out and “feathered”. This is when they are being used to sense something.
