Donkeys are known to be stubborn creatures with a will of their own and that includes a will to live as long as they want. Your vet Benson, NC can tell you that the average donkey can live anywhere between 25 and 30 years. Many have been known to live longer. In 2002 a donkey by the name of Suzy was officially declared by the Guinness World Records to be the oldest living donkey. Suzie lived in New Mexico and reached the age of 54. She died in late 2002. In 2011 another donkey by the name of Eeyore made his way into the record books by becoming the next contender for the title of world’s oldest donkey by also reaching the age of 54. However, in 2012 another donkey named Flower surfaced as a contender for the title with her owners claiming she had reached 70 years of age. Flower passed away later that year.
