Molting is a very common and natural occurring process in all kinds of birds including the Monk Parakeet. It is a time when the bird will undergo a process in which old feathers are replaced with new ones. Molting most often occurs at certain times of the year for birds based on their species and habitat. It generally coincides with the weather, migration, diet, and reproduction cycles.
