4:45 PM Treats for Halflinger Horses |
Giving treats to your horse can be a rewarding experience for not only your horse, but also for you. You can give your Halflinger treats often, but make sure you give them in moderation and give a healthy treat instead of lots of sugary sweets. For instance, horses love carrots and apples. Although these are sugary foods, they are natural in sugar and can be fed in moderation to your horse between meals. Treats like peppermints, cookies, or hard candies are high in artificial sugar and should be fed sparingly. If your horse is overweight, keep the treats limited and only feed out carrots or apples or other organic foods. Avoid feeding your horse numerous treats that are drenched in molasses or heavy syrups. These may be your halflinger’s favorite, but they are not healthy for him. Always contact your vet Mattoon, IL before feeding out new treats or feeding treats you’re unsure about. |
