12:20 PM The Aegean Cat |
If you’re looking for a cat with a rich history not typical of most domesticated cats then you may want to check out the Aegean cat. This breed originated in Greece throughout the islands surrounding the Aegean Sea. Archeologists discovered evidence that proves the Aegean cat to be the first domesticated cat, which lived on Cyprus more than 10,000 years ago. The breed itself is rare everywhere except Greece where it is quite popular. The name of course comes from the Aegean Sea, which surrounds the numerous island homes of this particular cat. The breed was declared an official breed more than 20 years ago. It is one of the only breeds that developed over time without any intervention from people. The Aegean cat loves fish and is comfortable around water. They make excellent house pets. Talk with your vet Southside, IN to learn more about this breed. |
