Senior Cats Need Regular Nail Trimming

When cats reach 12 years of age, they are now considered as seniors. As their bodies slow down and deteriorate, they will need all the care and attention that they can get from their pet parents. Here are useful tips to help improve your pet’s quality of life:

  • Senior cats tend to become sedentary and won’t spend as much time with the scratching posts. Without natural wear and tear, their claws can grow long and make walking hard for them. Nails that are not regularly trimmed can also become an ingrown, growing back and piercing the cat’s paws causing pain and irritation.

When trimming your senior pet’s claws, make sure to use the right nail clippers; and be careful about avoiding the quick. If you’re not too sure about cutting your pet’s nails properly, you should ask your pet clinic Rochester, NY to show you how it’s done.
