Royal Pythons are originally found in Central and Western Africa. They live in forests and are equally at ease on the ground or up in trees. These Pythons are nocturnal creatures, active during dusk and dawn, while hiding away during the day.

Royal Pythons are one of the easiest snake species to own, that is, if you are able to meet their basic needs.  Although this snake species do grow big, they have a preference for a smaller enclosure. An enclosure that is too large can cause stress to your pet python.  

Vivariums, plastic containers, and glass tanks can be used as housing for pythons.

A 20”x10” plastic container can comfortably house young Pythons while fully-grown adults can be placed in a 36”x15” vivarium.

While still young, the best substrates to use in your python’s enclosure include newspaper or a kitchen towel. As your pet gets older, you can use a washable cage carpet, aspen, or bark chips.
