7:41 AM No Moldy Food for Aegean Cats |
As pet owners, we need to be attentive to the kinds of things we throw in the garbage or keep lying around the house. Our feline friends often become overly curious and can get into foods that are bad for them. For instance, moldy foods or foods can produce toxins called tremorgenic mycotoxins that can cause life threatening illnesses if eaten by an Aegean or other breed of cat. These toxins can cause body tremors that extend all over the body and can lead to convulsions that may lead to death. If your Aegean has eaten anything remotely moldy call your vet right away even if symptoms aren’t present. It’s better to be safe and have your cat checked out then to have him go into convulsions because of digested mold. When tossing out old food, make sure the bag is tied securely.
