12:56 PM Living with an American Curl with FeLV |
If you own an American Curl or any breed of cat that has been diagnosed with FeLV or the Feline Leukemia Virus you are not alone. Talk to your veterinarian Raleigh, NC about treatments, medications, and ways to manage symptoms in your cat. You will need to know how to prevent secondary infections that could develop as a result of your cat’s compromised immune system. Your vet can also help you understand how to care for your cat at home and to ensure that other household cats do not become infected. FeLV is contagious to cats only and is spread through saliva, blood, and body fluids. If you have a multi-cat home you will need to keep your infected cat away from your other cats at all times. They will need separate food and water bowls and separate litter boxes. Take your cat to the vet every six months for a wellness check up. |
